I have this skin condition around the eye by the name of Syringoma.
No, that's not my eye.
According to http://www.medicinenet.com.
Syringoma: A benign (non-cancerous) skin tumor that derives from eccrine cells, specialized cells that are related to sweat glands. The skin lesions usually appear during puberty or adult life, and consist of small bumps one to three millimeters in diameter that form underneath the surface of the skin. The most frequent site is the eyelids and around the eyes, but other areas of the body can also be affected. There may be only one or a few lesions in a localized area, or numerous lesions covering a wide area. Syringomas more frequently affect women and do have an hereditary basis in some, but not all, cases. They are also associated with Down syndrome, Marfan syndrome, and Ehlers-Danlos syndrome.
Treatment of syringomas can be a problem, depending on their number and location. One method that seems to be effective and creates minimal scarring is the use of a hair removal electric needle; another promising technique uses a CO2 laser.
Causes of Syringoma:
It may occur because of hereditary in some cases but not in all cases.
In some cases Syringoma is related with Down syndrome.
Eruptive syringomas occurs in African Americans and Asians than in other patients
Some syringomas may be related with diabetes mellitus.
Symptoms of Syringoma:
Typical syringoma lesions are seen mainly on the face, especially the eyelids, neck and upper trunk in young women as pin-head to split-pea-sized, soft flesh or yellowish colored, globoid, discrete or grouped, papulo-nodules, almost embedded in the skin.
Histopathology is diagnostic. It shows cystic sweat ducts lined by several layers of epithelial cells, comma-like tails to the cysts and also bands of epithelial cells.
Treatment of Syringoma:
Treatment is surgical or electro-desiccation.
When I went to the skin doctor, I didn't know what was it about, when she asked me about my health, and family health, I told her everything and told her about diabetes in my family (brother and father).
She could recognize the condition just by looking at it, but she never told me that it's associated with diabetes :-/ , I mean ,hell, I have 2 diabetic members in my family and yet she didn't tell me that I should check whether I have any form of diabetes or not. I only knew its association with diabetes today after reading about it on the internet.
Anyways, I was wondering, anyone has a such condition and did anyone tried the removal treatment?
