The South Beach diet is or was popular and should help with weight loss. It is a lower carb diet, created by a cardiologist for his patients originally.
Another cardiologist that advices a somewhat similar low carb diet is Dr. Davis. He has a blog that I follow where he talks about heart heath matters, and the weight loss some of his patients experience when eating this way. His diet has helped myself and some of my family keep their weight in check.
