Kickboxing. You're accomplishing multiple tasks with kickboxing: self-defense + insane anaerobic workout + self-esteem + some serious toned muscles.

Do both if you have time and can afford it. They compliment each other nicely.

They compliment each other, Yoga involves dynamic and static stretching whereas kickboxing is going to be more dynamic. Try Yoga once a week and stretching everyday with kickboxing a couple of times a week and you should be set, you need to build your flexibility for kickboxing.

Try Yoga first it'll get your muscles loosened up for kickboxing. There both very good for cardio and very good for muscle toning, and who knows maybe you might move onto some more complicated and enduring forms of martial arts and meditation, hell I'm thinking about taking Krav Maga and Jeet Kune Do.

I had the same two thoughts! I can't pay for kickboxing and it's really hard to sit and concentrate on the yoga poses but as the others said- do both!

I prefer yoga because it calms and helps me relax both my mind and body.

Ttry yoga and brazilian jiu jitsu better for self defense and yoga and bjj go hand in hand and are both great work outs.
