Trouble with medication

I was wondering if anyone had trouble taking medication? My father and I, both aspies have weird reactions to more than 50% of medications that are given to us. My dad ended up in the hospital because a statin (cholesterol reducer med) almost killed him. It wasn't an allergic reaction, but it was a reaction. I am allergic to about half the antibiotics on the market and most of the other half give me some weird reaction (fuzzy vision, throwing up, fevers, reactions that mimic being high, etc.). They, too, aren't allergic reactions. And this problem is true with all sorts of medication. Most of them make me sick or nuts. Is this something that other aspies have trouble with or is it something that just my father and I share?

I usually have adverse side effects to most medicines. For instance, I once had a severe kidney infection, and was injected with an antibiotic. I spent the following day vomiting and feeling extremely ill. I had to be switched to another antibiotic. Another time, I was put on an anti-depressant, which produced a severe toxic reaction after taking it for about one week. I usually can count on having weird side effects or reactions from anything other than aspirin or Tylenol. I can be made very drowsy on tiny amounts of muscle relaxant or tranquilizers. I really hate having to take any kind of drug.

I seem to get side-effects to most of the meds I take. I had to change the anti-depressant I was on 3 times because every time I was put on one, I'd have panic attacks and upset stomach for months. Painkillers upset my stomach. I try to avoid taking medications as much as I possibly can.
