Arsenic was found in products that use brown rice syrup - this includes MANY energy bars. Does anyone know of an energy bar that doesn't use brown rice syrup? I use them to give me a mid-day lift while I'm at work because I have type 2 diabetes.

These might not be available where you stay, but I buy Fruitus bars, by Lyme Regis. They are just oats, dried fruit and some fruit juice, no syrup or anything else.

Why not make your own energy bars? Check online for recipes. You can substitute local honey, black strap molasses, or fruit juice for the brown rice syrup. Stay away from corn syrup. I've heard that is bad for people. Honey that is not local is usually too processed, also, so it is best to get the local brands from local hives.

Enjoy your snacks!
