So my friend after seeing jumping rope in the anime Usagi Drop, decided to buy me a jump rope on the condition that I work out with him every so often and keep him motivated. It was just a $2.59 speed rope from Walmart, "Gold's Gym" (not whoring themselves at all...) branded one. It seems to work and be nice. I like it much better than any ropes I've had as a kid, I hate the beaded jump ropes with a passion, though, for some reason.

Anyway, I'm really liking it. It's quite good exercise. It supposedly burns about 130 calories per 10 minutes if you're 130 pounds. I kinda sucked at it as a kid, but as an adult it doesn't matter as nobody is judging my jump roping performance anymore. It's sort of a neat coincidence my friend brought up the jumping rope, as a few days prior, an older guy at the skating rink told me it'd be good to start doing it. I do notice most of the higher level figure skater girls do jump rope at least for warmup.

So hopefully jumping rope will get rid of my little gut I got going on, and yeah. Surprisingly, it actually works your abs quite a lot, mine are burning right now from it. Abs need to stabilize everything afterall. Overall, it's a good tool. Unless it's rainy out, I can jump rope out on my porch for a few minutes with music on from my computer, then go back on the computer a few minutes, repeat. So just a suggestion, if you wanna get a bit more fit or whatever, get a jump rope and go jump some rope.

I used to jump rope, and enjoyed the fitness & counting of jumps, but I forgot about it, so thanks. :) Now if I can find the rope.
