Hi all,

My first post! I am undiagnosed AS type, won't bore you all with details.

My big question: do any of you treat or control yourself through enormous amounts and variety of exercise? I have been looking into the issues of proprioception and anxiety with AS and exercise's impact on them. I am not sure if those are my main problems, but I definately feel that with lots of exercise I have more control over myself AND am frequently the better of most NTs even in social settings. Basically, if I have my way I:
-stretch/do yoga
-walk a lot. long walks (1.5 hours+) are among the most soothing things
-run up the stairs in tall buildings. The high from doing this is amazing!
-lift weights
-do calesthenics
-run

Combined, these help me feel in control in a way that I usually do not feel. My good old AS focus is still there, but I am able to redirect it more easily. It kind of feels like time has slowed and I have sped up!

Does anyone else have similar experience?

I have been following a regime of healthy food and exercise for the past month and I find the same thing - I'm a bit more able to focus on things I find difficult to concentrate on, and bonus, it provides an excelent outlet for my mild hyperactvie tendancies! I bounce and fidget less if I've jogged and done my yoga and strength training for the day.

It's almost like the more I do, the more "normal" I appear, outwardly, I think.

On a sidenote, however, I'm following said regime for purely health-related reasons. I was just plain sick and tired of being unhealthy and having bad habits. I even quit smoking! Yay me. :)

i feel much better when i run my 6km a few times a week, or swim a few km, or bike or walk
if i don't i tend to loose my good humour (and gain a few kilos grrr) , and yeah maybe, now you say so, loose my control as well, actually very possible.

and i love stairs too !

I am more able to focus on tasks, and deal with the things that generally overwhelm me when I do heavy exercise and eat well.
