So, since i can remember, I can't sleep well. I'd stay up till about one and wake up at 7 40 am, which is roughly 6 hours of sleep. I look awful most days so i wear a LOT of makeup, but im still physically tired.. how do I help this??? I can tell im lacking in every part of my life because of this.

JFK was noted as having long days during the cold war, being up at 7 and sleeping at 10, is that bad that my days are remarkably longer?

Unfortnately, sleep issues seems to be an aspie trait. I get these nightmares where I think people are breaking into my apartment when I'm sleeping. It actually forces me to wake up. I hate it, especially when my body seems to get caught in this limbo between being asleep and being awake. Not that I want to drink beer before sleeping, but it seems I have no choice as I don't take sleeping pills. Yeah, I have sleeping pills issues, too.

I have similar issues with sleep. Half the battle is actually getting to bed as I am usually caught up with my interests by that stage in the evening. I also tend to wake up very early and then not be able to get back to sleep for any more than half an hor before waking again. I don't like sleeping pills but I do take melatonin and this has helped.

Until a month ago, I would go to bed wired and wake up exhausted on a regular basis. I found an article called “6 Surprising Sleep Wreckers” on WebMD dot com with this quote in it "People with chronic pain often wake up feeling more tired than they were when they went to bed," A perfect description!
When I started taking pain killers, my sleep got better. I also got heartburn from time to time, and I started taking Prilosec OTC too. Since then, I have been getting about 7-8 hours and waking up rested.
The weirdest thing is that I don't remember getting woken by heartburn. I have heard that there is a correlation between ASD and insensitivity to pain and GI problems. Why would pain that I couldn't feel ruin my sleep? I don't know.

Pain can wreak havoc on sleep. If you have no pain I would try melatonin first and see if it helps. For me 2-4 hour a night are the norm. One of these days Ill loose my mind.

i also often have problems getting to sleep (although luckily, i need less then the typical 8 hours to become fully rested).
something that helps me greatly is meditation; change into your nightwear of choice, go lie in bed and meditate in there, preferably with some white noise or rain/tunderstorm sounds on the speakers (minimum audiable volume), that way, i can cut the 'falling asleep' stage from 2 hours down to some 20 minutes, a large improvement

Get plenty of high intensity exercise, try to workout in the morning, a program like P90X would be benefit you greatly.

Drink 6-8 glasses of water.

Avoid sugar, caffeine and alcohol.

Start wearing less make up and hydrate your skin more with a good moisturiser, toner and eye cream.

Try taking herbal supplements, passiflora extract, L-theanine, Valerian, any of these before bed would aid greatly.

Funny I should see this topic. I just got out of bed and didn't sleep a wink last night. Every time my body would force itself to sleep (yeah, it was doing this. I've been sleepy a lot lately during day, but sleep every night all night normally.) Ahem again every time my body would force itself to go to sleep, I'd get this shaky feeling and extreme anxiety and I'd force myself awake. I told myself to just let my body do what it was doing, force itself asleep, but no matter what, I got a case of the shakes, anxiety, bolt awake. I did forget my meds this morning and can usually tell I missed my benicar, because I'd feel this vibration in my body during the day and that's about how I felt all night.

But pain was also mentioned and I've had a soar throat for a couple days and the worst of it was last night, but this something for another thread as this has to do with some serious medical questions I have, so I'll stop here.

Pain you can't feel is an oxymoron.
You were obviously put to sleep by something other than the pain killer's intended use.

Ibuprofen has this effect on me.

8 have the same problem! I can't get to sleep till around 4 or 5am. Ill genrrally wake up around 10ish. No matter how hard I try I can't sleep like I want to... Earlier and more lol

I have gotten used to it though. I have some serious bag though. I don't believe in medicine either. I like to keep it natural! I don't even take aspirin! So there goes meds to help me sleep.
