Iditarod has begun - the Serum race from Anchorage to Nome. I thought you'd like to see pics of the sled dogs, trail, sleds, & mushers. I love the Iditarod. My cat's vet volunteers for the Iditarod, as do many Alaskan vets, to take care of our very special canine athletes. Alaskan Sled Dogs are beauties and built to run. Even AK Sled Dog pups strain to run - mushers literally cannot keep them from their drive to run that sled. Variable number of dogs per sled and this depends upon the musher.

Hopefully no frostbitten mushers....go Iditarod! The musher in last place wins the Red Lantern and all are welcomed in Nome. The Sled Dogs 'win' a steak dinner too

Thank you! I love Alaska and the Iditarod. My "lucky" earrings are from Alaska. I have "watched" the race on the website for several years. You have a wonderful home state and event there. I bet your cat's vet has amazing stories to tell.

Nice!

Not something we see everyday.

I hear cool things about Alaska and I almost wish I lived there. Most likely I will be going in the other direction, possibly California or Utah or New Mexico, or somewhere in between.

I do think it would be enjoyable to visit, though. With preparation.

My statement was just an expression of wonder that a thread from three years ago popped back up. That's all. It doesn't mean anything at all really. It's not hurting anything to bring up old threads, unless it's some kind of troll that picks out old threads to argue with people or insult them, and that isn't the case here. I was just surprised that a thread about sled dogs from three years ago got resurrected from the dead.

PS I have wolf hybrids. I've heard that some people use them. They are high content hybrids, bred with huskies. Beautiful dogs but destructive as can be.
