In my case:

When the summer arrives and the days and especially the nights are getting hot, I want to keep myself cool without having to open the window to hear the f*****g neighbors' dog barking all damn the time.

That's no SO weird. I once lost a dramatic amount of weight and afterwards I would get cold a lot more easily, like when I went swimming I'd be freezing even if the water wasn't cold and crave a hot shower even during a heat wave. I still got sweaty just as easily, though. Might be a side effect from one of my meds. And I hate leaving my bedroom windows open at night, too. Kids are out all hours at night, cursing and screaming, racing in their cars, even throwing eggs at the windows. Do their parents even know, or care? And unless there's a breeze it doesn't really help and it can make the room more humid, which is 100 times worse than heat alone. Even when it's not that warm humidity and dampness make me very sweaty and uncomfortable. I prefer to use a fan. I actually find the sound and breeze very soothing and the hardest thing about fall is getting used to sleeping without one all over again. :)

You lost some of your layer of fat insulation. When I was overweight I dreaded the summer because I'd overheat and sweat a lot just by walking uphill, further perpetuating the fat-guy stereotype.

I've actually already lost a lot of weight compared to last years summer, but I'm planning to go even further in it till it's winter again.

Gotta prepare myself for another occasional heatwave coming in.

Hiatal hernia and hacking and coughing all morning as if I'm in my 70's - that's typically been a pretty strong motivator.

I need to get an inch or so off my middle, so I can fit into more pairs of shorts and short trousers, for my holiday in 4 weeks. Otherwise, I'm going to have to spend money - ridiculous when I have a plenty of clothes already.

Lower abdominal leg-lifts. So simple and it's suprising how quickly you get results. I'd recommend pushing it to 50 on your first attempt, you will hurt, but then take a week's break and follow with 50 sit ups and 50 lower leg lifts the following week, then take a break for another week. After the first two weeks, you should be able to repeat both sets of abdominal exercises every other day. It's just up to you if you want to keep it up.

^Thanks. Only problem I have with that sort of exercise is that I had acute sciatica last year. I'm a little frightened to do anything that might put too much strain on that area again.

One reason I know that others and myself want to lose weight is because you get hot and sweaty easier than the average person, it was uncomfortable for me, and when you sweat semi easily you tend to smell more often...I also didn't like how my ball skin stuck to the sides of my legs... That was annoying!

Yeah.... and heat/friction rash from walking around at outdoor events sets in easier.

Definitely. I find it even more so when running on a regular basis. For any of you overweight people out there planning on a long run every day or two, lemme tell you, vaseline is your friend! Rub it generously on the insides of your thighs before a good run to prevent rash/chafing.

#1 No money for new clothes

#2 I'm sensitive to tactile sensations, and I hate the feel of my skin against my skin, so fat rolls are out of the question for me. It's enough to have to deal with my own breast-skin sagging on me and legs brushing up against each other

#3 Being overweight makes it that much harder to ride up hills on my bike

#4 It's harder for my fiance to pick me up and fling me around if I've got an extra 10-20 pounds on me

Another weird reason: you sleep at a friend's place and their cat wants to paw your gut all night.

So I can eat more, without getting fat.
