- Cut down on greasy, fried foods. I rarely eat greasy fried food any more, and that helped me a lot.
- Cut down on or eliminate gluten from your diet, to see if that helps. Some grains have gluten, some don't. Some with gluten are wheat, rye, oats. Some without are corn, rice, quinoa (pronounced keen wah). There are others in both categories. Nut flours can also be substituted for gluten flours.
- Cut down or eliminate casein from your diet. I believe this is a cheese based protein.
- Reduce or eliminate lactose from your diet. This is part of dairy products, so you should look into lactose free versions, or try a lactaid type of supplement. You can also try non dairy versions of dairy products, like soy based cheeses, and soy, oat, rice, or almond milks.
# Problem with reducing or eliminating gluten, casein, and lactose is that so many, many products contain them, that it is almost impossible to completely eliminate them from your diet, but you can at least reduce them.
- Avoid poppy seeds and sesame seeds. Millet and flax seeds can also be hard for our afflicted innards to digest. Some nuts can also be hard to digest.
# Exception to seed and nut problems. When ground into flour or turned into paste (nut butters) it is often possible to eat them. I love peanuts, almonds and cashews, but can only eat them as a nut butter or when used as a flour in breads, etc. I can also drink Almond milk. When these hard to digest nuts and seeds are at least partially processed before eating, it makes it easier for our systems to finish the job.
I don't mind using the non dairy milk substitutes, as I am not a big milk drinker anyway. Those taste okay. I've tried the soy based cheeses though, and wasn't as happy with them. One brand did have a nice fake cream cheese, though. Some of the soy based cheeses do use casein, so you do have to read labels. Some of the fake cheeses are rice based instead. I haven't tried those yet, but would like to some day.
I have found that I can eat walnuts and pecans with somewhat less trouble than the other nuts cause, so I don't bother making them into nut butter. I can handle sunflower seeds and pine nuts with no problems. I think the softer nuts and seeds tend to be easier to digest.
Hope my suggestions help.
