3-4 days a week i go walking in the wilderness for nearly 3 hours walking up hills etc...

honestly do you think that is probably an excessive amount of exercise?

Excessive is what these military/Seal Team camps train people in doing. Back in high school I walked home 3 1/2 miles every day because of the thugs on the school bus.

lol no. @football practice we push trucks for 45 mins.

30 mins sprinting up hills.

45 mins squats/deadlifts/bench press.
20 min suicide runs.


Daily.


And I usually work out alone when I get home. 1-2 hours with no quarter.

Not if you enjoy doing it and it isn't some kind of regemented thing you force yourself to do.

(unless it's causing you pain or injury, of course!!)

It sounds like a good amount, not too much and not too little. You might want to increase the number of days and length of time you walk per week in a couple of weeks to build endurance. Hills are good. Walking up hills is better than walking downhill or on a flat surface.
