I am hoping someone on the forum has a bunion and can tell me how to handle mine. I have one on my right foot and it isn't the worst bunion ever but it causes my big toe to veer slightly to the right, so it slants toward the toe beside it. What I want to do is correct it and realign so it juts straight out from my foot but I don't know if this is possible. The bunion is not severe enough for surgery.

Has anyone tried bunion correctors or regulators? Have any of the various products successfully realigned your big toe?

I have already researched several different models but cannot figure out which one would be best for my foot. I do not want to spend sixty bucks on something that works as well as one that costs twenty. I have read plenty of good and bad reviews for all kinds of bunionators. This is why I am hoping someone has some personal experience with one particular type or brand and can steer me in the right direction because I don't like to waste time and money on stuff that doesn't work.

I would appreciate any feedback on various types of bunion products.

Thanks!

I am thinking about buying something like this:

I am wondering if anyone knows if such a device is effective? Are there better devices than this?

In case anyone's interested, I ordered the above bunion regulator and received it in the mail and at first I had my doubts but I put it on my foot and it actually moves my big toe over and aligns it some! I don't know how this will do long term but so far, I like it. If it starts causing discomfort I won't so I will have to wait and see what it is doing next week. I will post a couple of pictures later of the before and after.

I got a splint just like that many months ago. It did (and does) work to hold my toe in the proper position and keeps the bunion from rubbing against the side of the shoe. Unfortunately even though I wore it constantly for about 4 months, my toe always went back to its' old position. Maybe I didn't stick with it long enough. Maybe my bunion is just too advanced. Maybe a splint can't get the toe bones to permanently move. I hope it works better for you. I now just use it with certain shoes.

I did some research and found out this splint will not permanently realign the toe and get rid of the knot completely but it will help keep it from getting worse and help relieve discomfort if the bunion is not in advanced stages. To correct the bunion, surgery is necessary and I do not want to go to all that expense and trouble. Besides, I have read some stories about bunion surgeries and how they didn't help and made it worse.

The sling just moves the toe away so that the rub points can heal up. Unfortunately It isn't a real fix for the issue but does make them feel better.
