So I was hungry and went to eat some leftover pizza. It had no mold on it. When it got out of the microwave and took a bite I didn't taste so great. I spat it out and didn't swallow it. Will I be okay?

I can't see that being a problem. I'd rinse my mouth out with water just to get the taste out, but that's it.

Tomato sauce went sour, perhaps? I'm sure you'll be fine.

I always reheat pizza in the oven or eat it cold. NEVER microwave leftover pizza in my opinion.

If food is moldy, it goes into the trash. DO NOT EAT IT! PERIOD!

Well, if you're alive now I'd say you are okay.

If you don't mind me asking do you know what brand of pizza it was, and how old the leftovers were?

Forget the mould question, how many days old was it before you ate it?

I wouldn't worry. My partner freaks out if I try to cook something that's past its use-by date, but I don't think I've ever got ill from eating anything I've prepared, only from take-aways.

I was bought up on food from my Granny's kitchen that in some cases was a good 10 years out of date (cans) - I wouldn't worry. A little bit of bad stuff builds your immune system! ;)

I read something about a significant portion of food waste in the West being because people confused "best by" dates with expiration dates.

I don't worry too much about it, either- I figure food comapanies play it extra-conservative with the exp dates, anyway, lest someone get poisoned and try to sue.
