I play tennis. Tennis is my favorite sport because it's just me out there. Nobody to depend on, nobody has to pass me the ball, no teammates I have to trust. Just me and the opponent. It's also good exercise. Tennis players are stronger mentally, because not just anyone can pick up a racket and hit the ball. Unlike basketball, tennis players actually have to practice on a regular basis in order to get the ball over the net. Also, tennis players are better in bed.

Anyone else play tennis?

Tennis is great. It was my sport growing up. I was never a superstar, but was good enough to be the top seed at a decent size high school during my senior year in spite of being very small for my age. Have gotten away from it for the most part but every so often, I'll get the bug and pick it up for a year or so. If my work and family schedules were more agreeable, I'd be tempted to play in an adult league. I get pretty intense though ... my brother used to call me "Markenroe" (my first name is Mark). :)

Nick Dubin played tennis, and he claims to have AS... although his opinions aren't incredibly anymore considering his recent actions. Meh.
(Nope, not saying that autistic tennis players are all just like Nick Dubin; just mentioning it.)

Anyways, I like the concept of tennis, and I've played a bit of informal tennis, but I'm not incredibly good at it. I might consider taking it up at some point in my life. I do really like playing pingpong, if that counts.

It's funny. I hadn't yet considered my past tennis playing in terms of Aspergers. But now that I go back and think of all those endless hours in the driveway banging a ball against the garage door. Or going to the local court with a bucket of balls to practice my serve. The repetetive motion of it. In my own mind, I was "practicing" ... but, really, what an Aspie thing to do. It was all very soothing until there was someone on the other side of the net. And then "Markenroe" came out.

I love tennis although I hardly ever play these days. I'm pretty run-of-the-mill cause I only play a couple times a year at most, but I can at the very least least hold it down with significantly better players if they feel the need to test me.

I am not competitive at all in tennis, and I actually think it's an advantage in those cases--competitive dudes get nervous at the prospect of losing to a short, awkward, possibly drunk guy who hasn't seen a court in months, plays super loose and gives em every benefit of the doubt without hesitation

My serve kind of sucks cause I'm like 5'8" 5'9" so the angles are tough if I don't practice (which I don't), and I've never been able to hit top spin, but I can bang with whoever if they aren't some kind of expert.

Use to play competitively as a kid - would love to get back into it!

I play tennis and I love it. Unfortunately I have recently lost the last hitting partner that I had and I don't really know how to find/where to look for another one. At least I have a weekly 1.5 hour tennis lesson which is fun but it's just not enough. I feel like my skills have deteriorated as of late. I'd love to find someone to play with once a week so I could be playing twice a week total.

I've always wanted to play tennis, I just didn't have anybody to play with, to teach me.
