what are your working out habits
I've found it's pretty much impossible for me to "work out." I have to think of things as training for a sport/specific purpose, and from there you have a goal (say, increase my long jump or vertical jump) and then you research ways to help you reach that goal. If you have vague goals, you'll have vague results. Set goals you want to reach physically, activities you wish to do, how you'd like to look, and then research on methods to achieve them, and put your research into action. Be ambitious with your goals, too, worst that'll happen is you'll only be mediocre at an activity 99% of people around you cannot do at all.

Mine is pretty routine oriented...it's definitely grown into an obsession over the last year or so and consequently, I don't even really need to motivate myself to hit the weights, it's more like 'if I don't lift tonight, I'm going to lose mass and strength and possibly negate all the effort I put into my previous workout.' Obviously, things don't really degrade at that rate so it's really just a self-implemented scare-tactic . Anyway, before every workout, I consume some sort of complex carb-based meal because I'm always afraid of having an insulin spike and losing my drive during the workout, then an hour after that, I hit biceps and chest on Monday, rest Tuesday, legs and shoulders Wednesday, rest Thursday, back and triceps Friday, rest Saturday and Sunday. Sometimes, I do legs Tuesday and shoulders Wednesday because legs are so flippin' exhausting. Anyway, immediately after the workout, I down a protein shake and some simple-carbs, yadda yadda...everything you're supposed to do. I think having very specific mental imagery of your goal physique is important while working out, especially if you're not 'obsessed' quite yet. I don't take any pre-workouts or that sort of stuff, so if I do need some motivation, watching YouTube videos of Phil Heath or Kai Green definitely get me worked up. I totally agree with 1000Knives...always research and never make assumptions; there's an endless supply of great advice and honed knowledge on the web. Personally, I wouldn't be anywhere without Bodybuilding.com

My goal is the best butcher in the surrounding area. So if i dont bike the 16 km (around 25 miles) to him (up- and downhill along a river and a forest) and again back home, i wont get his incredible steaks afterwards.
May sound weird, but it works great for me. ^^
I used to attend a gym about 3 nights a week with my partner, but we have this terrible habit of getting obsessed with fitness around July time, and then being bored of it by about October/November. So we spend a lot on joining fees!
I'd like to be more sporty, or whatever the word is - and I'm supposed to exercise because I have weak muscles which give me back pain - but I don't
I find I can't get into a routine of sticking to it. It interferes too much with my schedule already, which is perfect the way it is.
Plus, gyms are noisy and full of people..
We just bought a small exercise pack with an exercise ball and some other bits and pieces in it, and intend on getting a small pack of weights and an exercise bike. Once we've got that I think I should be okay. I actually enjoy exercise bikes

Forgot to mention like two of you had, I have a home gym setup...there's no way I could make it to a proper gym. In fact, I'm terrified of 'em. I've got an open squat rack and bench setup plus a high and low pulley system and some dumbbells. More than enough to do almost every lifting move possible. The actually squat rack+bench+pulley combo is a Parabody 893 which was over $1,000 new...after a few months browsing Craigslist, I was able to get it plus an olympic bar and 215lbs of olympic weight for $150! I still can't believe I scored that deal. Everything was nearly mint, too! Had to add some more olympic weight to setup but basically, I'm good to go forever.
