I'm with you.
I hate sports too.
I can't understand people who play team sports, or watch them - my wife included, though she only watches the sport she grew up watching with her family (AFL - Australian rules football).
I just don't get the complex social interaction that goes on in teams, either on the field, off, or even in the workplace.
I also don't get people who go to the gym.
I do my workouts at home, but I do go to the gym to use the pool.
I hate people who get in the swim lanes but don't swim laps.
I used to play tennis, and do karate, but I've always been more drawn to individual or double sports, as I do better and feel more comfortable either on my own on in a one on one scenario.
I think I would be considered odd if I was an NT.
I think I would be considered somewhat normal in respect to the above as I am an Aspie.

I've been planning to start a thread on this topic for some time.

I hate sport. It bores me to watch it and to play it. The roar of the crowds (or the engines noise if it's motorsport) drive me mad. Most men think it's a bit abnormal not like sport and I'm sure this distances me from people. I don't want it to. I can ask them politely what matches are on, who they think will win and so on, but they know that I'm not a real fan and they think something is wrong with me. Perhaps they think I'm being snobby but I hope I'm not.

There's one guy at work who can talk almost all day about football (as in soccer) and he does, Every day. And people love him for it, I've tried talking on other subject and I've been cut dead and the conversation switches back to football again.

My girlfriend loves football (!) so I have to try and take a bit of interest. I even went to a match with her at Wembley when her local team got through to a final. I found the atmosphere very threatening and confrontational - I didn't know you were supposed to boo and flick the opposing team the Vs when they scored! Where's all this good sportsmanship people talk about?

Growing up not liking sport distanced me (even further) from my peers and from my father too I guess. He loved watching rugby and would demand silence while it was on; If I made a sound he would growl his displeasure like a dog having his bone taken away. I was made to play sports at school which I was inept which wrecked my self esteem. I've got lots of bad associations with sport (I even get agitated if some people are playing football near me when I'm sitting in a park) and I'm never going to be comfortable around it' let alone actually enjoy it.

I hate sports. The only sport I ever watch is horse racing and I only do that because I have a friend that is interested in it. Otherwise I'd never go to the racetrack again.

I don't like taking part in sports, unless it's martial arts.
And however, martial arts are more like a lifestyle, not a sport.

The only sports I watch on TV are horse races (because I like horses) and soccer matches (because my parents watch them during dinner at times).

I can get why some people can enjoy playing sports but I can't understand why anyone would want to watch it on TV. I enjoy the occasional game of golf or 8-ball, both of which I play badly but I wouldn't care to watch anyone else play it.

Someone told me once that Aspies don't like Gym Class. I met some maybe-Aspies when I ran Cross-Country, maybe that doesn't count.

I played football and basketball but only to get away from home, finally we moved to a school that had an actual choir class and I was able to take up singing and get out of sports and stil be able to get away from home. I never really got into sports but saw it as a way to try to socialize (which didnt work out too well given my clutzy nature even in socializing)

When I was younger I was bullied every so often. I guess it was the cool kids who played sports so I definitely wasn't part of that. Also, we moved around a lot so I had little chance of making friends.

I also had poor vision and needed glasses which I finally got at 10 years old. Fear of breaking my glasses, and getting beat for it by my father, prevented me from playing sports. In any case, I wasn't interested anyway. I was especially scared of soccer and feared getting kicked in the chest or the face. Track and field held no interest for me.

Fast forward to years later and now I watch the NFL. I don't talk about it to locals, though, because I'm still the loner type.
