..but it hates me.
I was using FlightSimX to fly a Cessna Skyhawk from Memphis Int'l to the muncipal airport in Jonesburo, AR. The hour-long flight went fine, until i decided to join the traffic pattern at the Jonesburo airport. I was too high on my first final, so i told ATC i would fly over the runway, turn around, and try again. After flying the crosswind, downwind, and base legs of the pattern, i set myself up for a second final. My glide slope was perfect... at first. Then i realized with my engine at idle, i wasn't going to stay airborne long enough to reach the runway. So i added power to get myself a little more time. Unfortuantely, i didn't add enough power to fix my airspeed. As a last resort, i tried very forcefully manuvering the joystick to fix my flight path.
The outcome was thus: my front wheels hit the dirt about 100 feet from the threshold of runway 23, and my precious plane went tail-over-nose. I'm not sure what the aviation term for this manuver is, but when a human does it, i call it a "faceplant."
At the very least, this crash occured in the safety of cyberspace.
The morale of this story is... WATCH YOUR DAMN AIRSPEED, PILOT!
