This sad pathetic excuse for a child followed me and ,my brother and kept shining a laser pointer in my eye, should I go to the ophthalmologist to check this situation out? Will I loose some of my sight? :(

In my one year of teaching high school math about sixteen years ago, one boy was shining a laser pointer at my face from the back of the room. At my next appointment I asked my optometrist about this. He said it would generally have to be at close range and held in one particular position.

You might want to ask your eye doctor about this, either a short visit on its own, or combined with a regular check up.

I'm sure you're fine. I wish you had grabbed your eye, started screaming and fell down on the ground hollering "MY EYE! MY EYE!! ! I CANT SEE!! !! THAT KID BLINDED ME!! !" though. I bet that would have been the last time he ever pulled a stunt like that. ;-)

When I was about 12, this one kid shone a laser pointer into my eyes, and it must've been stronger than an average one, since my eyes actually hurt for a little while. =p I didn't experience any problems with my vision though.

Also, a couple years back, one of my friends brought back this strong green laser pointer from China, and when I was playing around with it, I caught reflections of it in my eyes a few times, which were really bright. Again, it may have hurt a bit, but there was no real damage.

But anyway, the point I'm trying to make is that you shouldn't worry too much about it, especially if it's some dinky dollar-store red dot laser pointer. If it was something with a green or blue dot though, then I would be more concerned.
