I am joining this running club. they want me to give them my height in accurate detail.

what I did to measure my height yesterday is in the early morning I placed a plank of wood on top of my fridge (I measured my fridge at a 2 mms over 172cm which is just about 5ft8 or a mm or 2 less. When I get out of bed after a good nights sleep the back of my head touches the plank so I am assuming I am roughly 5ft8 in the early morning. A few hours later I can stand under the plank of wood WITHOUT my head touching it.

Shorter people shrink less during the day than taller people so would you say my true height is 5ft7 1/2 (171cm) or just 5ft7 (170cm)? Don't most people shrink half an inch from morning until afternoon?

I would assume they just want your height to work out some metrics etc. Most people try to make themselves sound as tall as possible so it's assumed that people will take their max height so I'd just call yourself 5'8".
