I ran a few in my early-to-mid twenties. My best time was 4:08:27. Never helped that I would alter my pace to avoid being in a pack :)

Yep, I run ultra marathons as well as marathons. I don't have the speed I had when I was younger but slow and sure also finishes!

There is something particularly special about South Africa's most famous ultra-marathon, which dates back to 1921 when a certain Vic Clapham organised the inaugural one to commemorate the fallen Comrades of World War I, as well as those who survived and went through many hardships together.

It started with around 25 entrants but grew steadily from the 1960s and 1970s onwards, now attracting 18000 entrants.

Many. It all gets addictive and you want to run further and faster.

Comrades would be great, I'd like to do it 2 years running (pardon the pun) to do both the up and the down route.

Eurythmic, it will be great if you can do that. Next year 2015 is the 90th Comrades, so a good one to choose. I didn't finish this year, bailed at 75 km for the first time (have 10 medals) so my new motto is 11 in 2015 or bust!!

I did enjoy the experience however and the support is phenomenal as always.

Just returned from a run now, the first one since my Comrades trip.

I've always wanted to do one... I enjoy running for huge amounts of time. But I think I would need a lot of exercising before I could do one. I know I can do half-marathons, but I want to do full marathons. Or at least try....

Anything under 3 hours is phenomenal. Especially for an amateur.

Under 3 hours! Wow that's an awesome time Basso, I could only wish to come close to a marathon time like that!

I wish my voice was that good.

I sing in community chorales. My range is actually baritone, not bass, but most choral music is scored for 4 parts (SATB). I don't have the range to sing a lot of tenor parts, so I'm usually singing bass.

I have bad breathing/running coordination. I can easily drive bicycle up and down hill for hours, but get belly-lung-aches after 15 minutes of running. :(
