I used to get get canker sores a whole lot. I still do occasionally, do to stress and stuff.

I believe I have found out the reason for my canker sores. It's dairy.
Since I was a kid, I would get 1-2 a year. My canker sores, were at times, so bad, paralyzing pain, that it would stop me dead in my tracks, and I would have water coming from my eyes.
And on New Years Eve, 2009, that's when the mystery started. I got a full blown canker sore out of the blue, within minutes.
From then on, I would be bombarded with canker sore. I'd get them for a about a week, and my tongue will be better for a day or two, and then another, and the cycle continued for at least a year.
I've also been drinking skim milk, by the gallons starting in Grade 7 (2001). I would drink a whole jug (4L) of skim milk within a couple days. I guess, my body slowly became more intolerable to it.

I can't have milk, cheese, or ice cream, or probably anything diary. The other day, I just has a couple spoonfuls of ice cream, and that night, I got a canker sore.

Last year, I got a full blown canker sore within several minutes after eating some cheese.

I also remember some guy telling me that he used to drink a lot of milk, and I think he said he would get them.
So, if you suffer from canker sores, diary is at least one of the reasons why.Stress can also bring on canker sores, at least in some people.
I just wanted to share.

I get canker sores if my hand slips when I'm brushing my teeth and my toothbrush bangs a spot in my mouth. I get a canker sore in the spot that got hit by my toothbrush. Unfortunately, this happens a fair amount, several times a year. Thankfully canker sores don't make me cry, but they sure are annoying!

Oh man....I get cold/canker sores all the time---before a cold, after a cold LOL

Once, when I was broke, I participated in a research study. If I would have gotten ONE canker sore in a six month period, I would have gotten $400--but no dice--I didn't get ONE during that six-month period.

This year, though, I've gotten at least ten cold sores!

I would get them when I drink to much soda pop. I haven't seen one inside my mouth now for almost 3 years.

Can be due to heat, chemical, abrasion too. There is also a condition which relates to getting the frequently.

We call them mouth ulcers in UK. Personally I try to avoid the medicated treatment, instead, if is hurting such as from drinking or eating, then, I get a barrier jell. But it hard to find one that is also not got some active ingredient it. This may aggravate the problem. I found one recently. If it doesn't hurt that much I just leave it, try not bother it.

I'm dairy free, and still get them, occupationally.

Cold sores are different though, obviously related to herpes but not exclusively.
