I was bouldering at an indoor climbing gym and when I dropped off the wall my ankle popped and I got to small fractures. So now I'm stuck in a cast for the next several weeks.

I'm just wondering if anybody else has experience with a broken bone. If you do could you post your story? What was the worst part if the recovery? And are the any tips to make the healing a bit more comfortable?

i've never broken my ankle but i do remember the time i was stupid enough to have the fat rubber part of a traffic pole smash my thumb. on super bowl sunday. it hurt.

it was bandaged rather thickly for a while and since i was doing track practice at the time, getting onto the blocks and into the start position wasn't comfortable...with a good chunk of my weight on that thumb.

plus it looked ridiculous.

can you climb again the day you get your cast removed?

Not right away. It's going to take a few months before I'm back to normal. I'm am lucky though, there doesn't seem to be any permanent damage.

Not my ankle, but I've broken my arm before. Went to the hospital to get it checked, and get my arm in a cast. Few weeks later I find out they set the cast wrong. So they had to "re break" my arm, and set the cast again. You can imagine the pain I was in when they to re break my arm.
