Fluctuation in waist size?

My waist is usually 41" but measures it today after lunch and it measures 42 1/2 inches. This was after I ate breakfast, lunch and I had some soda. It's strange because I don't eat a lot of junk food. I like simple healthy snacks. Plus junk food bothers my stomach most of the time. Could it be the soda?
