I I tried Hydergine, Pyritinol, Idebenone, Picamilan, and anything that ends in -racetam (Piracetam, Oxyracetam, Anirycetam...know there's one more...). The trouble was I had the expectation that I could will my way up and out of being on the spectrum - that much at least didn't work and it seemed like the only thing that seemed to significantly help was the stimulant effect.

The only other problem - I never really took objective measures to see if my cognition was really enhanced. My best guess - if it was enhanced at all it wasn't to a noticeable degree.

Depends on the quantity how much pills you take in a day. If you want to see some fast results use nootropics after to take your breakfast with a plenty of water. And take your second pill right after the dinner can help you to increase your mental abilities.
Alpha Brain is Recommended Brain nootropic

The concept of "work" is kinda vague. Give anyone amphetamines and they will be more alert. Some might use that focus on learning calculus, someone might spend the time playing a video game.

Learning is a lifelong process. Those pills promise things they can't substantiate and I would require extraordinary evidence for extraordinary claims.

I think they are just another way to sell you something that probably has no long term benefit.

I remember when ginkgo was the nootropic. Now that I think of it, I didn't notice any enhanced thinking of state of mind. When I take one of those caffeine packed fat-burner pills, I notice a huge change in thinking, I'm practically an extrovert and have tons of willpower. It wouldn't be like that if I kept taking them though; I can only do that every so-often.

Diet/hydration and exercise has more of a long-term noticeable effect. I know it sounds preachy, but on a day to day level, those make the biggest difference.
