Based off of an interview I heard no NPR I made an appointment on February 10th of this year to begin the process of either getting X-ray images taken of my brain or to see if it is possible for them to take a small tissue sample.

What I am going to tell them to look for are patches of disorganization in the cortex of my brain along with any other damage. I was diagnosed with Asperger Syndrome back in 2006 when I was 26 years old. Anybody else have any suggestions on what to tell the doctors what to look for?

I've had MRIs & a CAT scan done on my head when I was getting diagnosed & treated for a tremor disorder. I had one MRI done on my brain because I was born with a rare low vision disorder that didn't get correctly diagnosed till later on. I was told my results were abnormal 1ce but they didn't go into any more detail than that. I don't think they knew what it was.

I don't have any suggestions about what to tell em to look for thou.

I had the one cuz of my vision disorder in the summer between 9th & 10th grade. I had the others when I was around 25 maybe.

I don't understand, why do you want images or biopsies of your brain taken?

It sounds like brain biopsies are only done under extreme circumstances http://www.healthline.com/health/brain- ... Prognosis7

That is very true. However, if you know enough to network with who you have then you can find ways around it. I remember an old saying that I learned when I was growing up. It goes like this. 'If you can't break down an obstacle then you have to figure out a way around it'

In my city I have access to a top quality autism support team. I mentioned to one of my coaches that I would need to get X-ray images of my brain taken in order to prove that I have Asperger Syndrome. He mentioned that there are doctors who are interested in studying children AND adults with Autism and are looking for volunteers. I go in, I take some tests, they produce a 14-20 page report on how I have Asperger Syndrome......voila....

How would an x-ray prove you have autism? It's diagnosed through observation and psychological tests like IQ and ADOS.

I had an MRI when I was very little. I don't remember it and had to be sedated so I'd be still during it. The results were normal.

I thought it could but right now the technology is not available. These physicians are going to be giving me a series of tests to determine if I am on the spectrum. They will not be looking at my brain.

I've a few MRIs, and I actually possess a picture of my brain that was taken while I was having surgery. I would post it, but some might find it gross.

Your coach who told you that you needed to have an X-ray image of your brain in order to prove you have Asperger's is lying. The fact that he/she is trying to use this false information to con you into participating in some study that requires an X-ray or worse a brain biopsy is highly unethical and dishonest.

I never had to get my head x-rayed for my diagnosis, let alone have a brain biopsy done. They just did some behavioral and IQ tests, as well as ask me a bunch of questions, and voila. What you are planning on doing is rather extreme, and potentially dangerous in the case of the biopsy, so I would seriously reconsider it.

My coach didn't tell me to do it. I came up with the idea myself.
