More art than sport?
I once read that some of sports disciplines are more art form than regular sport, that such disciplines are for exemple skateboarding, figure skating, ski jumping, synchronized swimming or artistic gymnastics, for me sport are sport, there no "artistic" in it, maybe with exception of two last disciplines.
Does sport are art form, maybe soccer are "art" but the is "art" in the same way as this
I'm not talking about the players, but about fans, especially those teams who do not like too much them self
I do believe sports is an art.
Sports does have rule and structure, but what has to be taken into account is that the arts do as well.
If you play sports just with friends for fun, you and negotiate the rules and even alter or remove rules altogether.
Many people who play sports casually with friends will do this, and many focus less on technique and skill and more on just having fun but also using aggression to win.
Just as if you are an artist, you can do whatever you want regarding art for fun, but if you want your art to be taken seriously, it is best to study existing rules and structures to help make your art the best quality is can be.
Most professional athletes follow rules and structure, but can also choose to play creatively within the rules. Most athletes do still have their own unique playing style or method that is completely unique to them and individual.
Most professional artists, writers, musicians, actors, dancers, etc. follow rules and structure, but can also choose to produce their art creatively within the rules. Most artists do still have their own unique style and methods of production that is completely unique to them and individual.
The parrellel's between sport and art are quite facsinating.
And, like you say, there are many arts or sports that fall into a grey/mixed area.
Is dancing an art, or a sport?
The definition of sport:
"Sport (UK) or sports (US) are all forms of usually competitive physical activity or games which,[1] through casual or organised participation, aim to use, maintain or improve physical ability and skills while providing enjoyment to participants, and in some cases, entertainment for spectators.[2]"
The definition of art:
"Art is a diverse range of human activities in creating visual, auditory or performing artifacts – artworks, expressing the author's imaginative or technical skill, intended to be appreciated for their beauty or emotional power.[1][2"
By definition, dance certainly fits both. As does gymnastics.
And, skateboarding is heavily about creativity. Skateboarders create new moves and techniques all the time and is heavily about individual expression.
Singing is physical as it makes use of the body and it's vocal chords, breathing techniques, mouth movement, etc. Most singers put many years of practice and training and after performances most singers actually end up physically fatigued from the effort they put into their voice. Singing is also very competitive.
As is music and playing an instrument takes much physical dexterity and co-ordination to the point one can feel fatigued after a performance.
People in combat sports think of their own moves and styles, as do soccer players, etc.

I just know that skaters are often describe their discipline as performance art just like dance rather than pure sport, the same goes for bikers who compete in motocross, or just maybe they just try to make their sport more noble
