For about nearly a week I have been getting a wierd pulse sound in my left ear, like hearing my heart beating, but it is double the speed of my actual pulse. What is causing it? Why twice the speed? Why just my left ear and why have I never had this before? Any idea?

MG, I have had that too altho in my right ear and like you its faster than a pulse would be, sometimes a lot faster. And in my case, it only seemed to happen in the evenings.

My research has led me to conclude that it is a small muscle near the ear that is spasming. Going on that premise I have changed my diet some trying to alleviate muscle spasms and have met with some success. It hasn't gone away entirely but it has lessened considerably. Enough that what remains is much more tolerable. Hope this helps.

I was looking it up. Some was about things I want to ignore because I don't want them as it means hospitals. Others are due to stress which I have had quite a bit recently. My diet.... Uhmmm. Has altered back and fore as my brothers wife sometimes cooks food. She is Korean.
I am also getting stomache cramps in mornings ans have done for over a year. These eleviate after I sit on the toilet for an hour or two and I go to the loo and pass solids. (I used to get the runs for years, so passing solids is a miracle!)
But also I get bubbling or ticking in my throat, and sometimes severe heartburn, and I can also get my throat closing up if I try to swollow fruit or if I have anything containing artificial sweetners. If I try to swollow the last mouth full, my nose starts to block as well as my throat so I really struggle to breathe!
I do have tablets to aleviate this which prevent stomache acid, but I do not want to get addicted because I can easily forget to take them, and for me, phoning the doctors is stressful, let alone going. Actually I could do with kore of the tablets.

I believe it is all linked to anxiety, which is a feeling I tend not to notice until it suddenly becomes major. Some feelings I am out of touch with or do not notice so much. Hence why for years and years until recently, having shutdowns (I did not know what they were called or what was causing them) was a complete mystery as to what they were or what was causing them, and as I hve difficulties explining feelings, which is probably because I have loimited words to do so (Could it be something to do with that whwn I go into deep thought, I usually think in pictures? (I believe that is how I think as I seem to spend ages thinking in picture form when in deep thought)).
But anyway. It is probably an extra symptom of long term background stress/anxiety. Nothing to worry about.
Thanks for the reply. Much appreciated.

Ooh. It does happen more in the evenings though. (Though when I used to work, or go to school etc, anxiety hit hard every morning. I thought it was normal in life and everyone got the same! Morning nurves! I do not get it if I am not working but if I have an appointment on its way that day I can have major anxiety if it is something medical like dentist etc. Why me? :P What I don't like is having "Looming future appointments" as these can give me a kind of background anxiety if that makes sense.
I once was put on a list to see a specialist dentist as my local dentist could not take teeth out as my body reacts to adrenaline in the injections, and I am also so nurvous that I get issues, so I needed to go to the specialist dentist which ended up being a five year wait as everything sems to take longer here in Wales. By the time I had the appointment other teeth became effected and I had four out. But anyway, those five years of waiting and not knowing when it would be gave me daily background anxiety which effected my life. I have been known to cancel appointments and ignore whatever the symptoms are rather then face the stress of waiting.
I know that if I was told there and then without waiting, to go to the appointment and walk straight in and get it done, I would be nurvous and may have the odd shutdown while there, but I would be MUCH better off and actually be a LOT better on the day then waiting, because I will be avoiding the background anxiety which tends to build up in greater volumes as the day approaches.

I have quite a bit of stress at the moment...

I still have it. I am slightly concerned that it is still there.

If anyone is still watching this thread, I wanted to report that my ear noise has now subsided entirely. The most significant dietary change I made was eating more fruit. I began eating blueberries on my yogurt with breakfast and having a fruit with lunch. At first peaches were in season so I had them; but they have since gone by so I switched to pink grapefruit.

That worked for me anyway. YMMV, no guarantees, etc. And mind you it did take several months for me to see results.
