I was thinking about the physical & sports skills I've tried and enjoyed and remembered one I was pretty successful at: skiing. Most sports I don't do well but skiing surprised me.

I started off slow one morning and fell down so many times I've lost track, but by the middle of the afternoon I could stay on my feet and not run into people.

My older bones keep me away from that type of activity now but I wondered how many were pleased to find skiing a sport that surprised them as readily do-able?

I started skiing when I was 25 and have been doing it ever since. I never get to ski often enough to stay in shape. By the time I get in good enough shape to do black diamonds. the ski season is over. I only go about 3-4 time a year, and that's because we have a bus that goes to the mountain. I don't like driving to the mountain on my own.

Yes, I can ski, but I enjoy snowboarding more. 8) I have to say though that it is the whole experience that I enjoy. Skiing or snowboarding plus: being in a nice snowy landscape, the mountains, fresh cool air, etc. 8)

Alpine Skiing is one of my absolute favorite sports of all time, as my screen name suggests. I try to ski at least 35 days a season. We have very short winters where I live so it can be hard to get a lot of days in. I also race a little bit.

I actually just recently started learning to skate to help me ski better. I love learning to skate and it really helps with balance. I will learn to snowboard too since my husband snowboards.

Does jet skiing count? I love that :D I never lived where alpine skiing was available until the last five years. As the first poster said, now my bones are too old to try skiing. But I started snowshoeing this past winter and I loved it. I loved the quiet and serenity and being the first person to go through a field of unbroken snow, and it was definitely good exercise.

Just like in skiing, first tracks are glorious! :D
And you are not too old to learn to Alpine Ski I know some people who started older than you. I have taught some of them! Skiing is a sport for all ages because you can do it very gently and if you have a good teacher, you won't fall a lot.

Check out these young hotties! :D

I have a knack for getting hooked on to them when I try to get off, I just avoid them now.

Lucky you! :D

From the time I stand on skates (ice or roller) until I find myself down, is about 5 seconds.

But yet I can ski :D :D :D

(And the first time out I got beat-up by a "T-bar" pretty good :( )

I miss skiing :( The last time I did I was 19. I like both Alpine and cross. But I'm not great at Alpine, never went to a black descent. Not good on hard snow. It needs practice. I'd like to try snowboard.

The only skiing I've actually done is water skiing. I've been to the mountains where it snows, and I've just sledded and hiked in snow for the most part.

I have never water skied. I hear it's really hard to first get up. It looks really fun though. I would like to try it some day. I have never used a jet ski either. I would like to try that too.

Yes, mostly cross country or I'll go down little hills.
