So I retired just over a month ago, and I had gall bladder surgery (laparoscopic) about two and a half weeks ago. Because I have one weak leg, a spine problem, and a history of falling, I have to limit myself in the activities I use for exercise.

Here's the program right now: Chair exercise at senior center, 1/2 hour, Mon and Wed. Adaptive yoga Friday. Gym trip for Nu-Step on Sunday. That's four exercise events a week, which sure beats the two I had going prior to retirement.

I am already able to handle all of the plant watering, which I used to need help for, and can mostly stand during it, though I sit for parts still.

When my abdomen is completely healed I'll swim on Sundays. I really miss it, that was my old routine, but have to let my incisions heal first.

I think I may want to shoot for 7 exercise events a week, but baby steps, baby steps. Happy with my progress so far.

Fantastic, you are healing quickly. Make sure you listen to your body. I know it may sound odd, but it is quite important.

How is your husband? Does he exercise with you?

Keep up the good work.

As much as possible, we exercise together. He goes to the chair exercise with me and the pool or gym. We both need to do it often and regularly. From my reading, it seems like the single greatest factor in extending one's functional life!
