I've been having dry mouth for quite a while now partly because of allergies & partly because of medication I'm on. I do take allergy meds & I'm not interested in changing that or my other meds around to find out which one or combination it is; it's probably the combination of a few meds. I haven't really been very concerned by the dry mouth. I drink water when it bothers me & I probably drink about 8 glasses of water a day even when it's not bothering me. I saw a new dentist Tuesday for a routine cleaning & she was concerned about the dry mouth. She recommended I start using Biotène when I go to bed but I'm wondering if there's anything else I can do. Are there meds or supplements that can help with dry mouth or any other tips :?:

Sugar free gum. None of the options really work well. Biotine states it works for up to 2 hours which is baloney, you are lucky if it works for 20 minutes.

I'm not much of a gum chewer but I might do it occasionally. My dentist said it works 2wice as long as water does.

My meds give me this bad style along with dry eyes, I just tip tons of water down my throat whenever I wake up as if I've just crawled across the desert, I drink a lot of water anyway but make an extra effort if I wake up to ensure it's constant, meds actually help me a lot so I'm willing to accept this side effect.

What helped me was breathe right strips. With a BR I learned to sleep with my mouth closed so it didn't dry out.

They aren't cheap I know but by getting it wet and removing it in the morning, letting it dry til the next night, one can last for a week. That cuts the cost considerably. Actual mileage may vary, of course.

I tried the RiteAid version of them a couple years ago & they didn't help. But that was before I had nasal surgery to correct a deviated septum. The inside of my nose was crooked & contributing to sinus problems & minor sleep apnea. Maybe the actual Breathe Right Strips would help now.

I wake up with dry mouth real bad. I haven't bought these in a while and probably should, but if you have this, too, Id suggest getting Xylimelts. You put a tablet between your cheek and gums and sleep with it in your mouth.
