There are products that contain some kind of liquid that you put a few drops of in your ear to clean them but I don't have much experience with em. I think you can find it at places like WalMart

Oh geez, I've had this issue before but it was a lot more bizarre (not painful but definitely annoying). I had water trapped in my ear and i tried everything and it never appeared to me that technically i had a "petri dish growing in my ear" until i got a tip (generally not a good idea but still) and yeah..

I'm watching this thread. One of my ear canals is basically child sized. My ears get clogged all the time. Against all widely publicized medical advice I clean them with q-tips. So far, so good. I'm very cautious though.

There is a Murine Ear Cleaner to remove wax.

Kleenex tissue works just fine for removing ear wax (perferably after a shower) without any risk of puncturing your ear drum with a Q-tip.

The overall dryness that those of us on the spectrum experience is especially prevalent and painful in the ears. It is our lot in life. I have had problems with my ears since I was a kid: water in them or swimmer's ear, excess wax that cakes up, the odd ear infection that has required a visit to a specialist, etc. I started out using q-tips; I better not reveal what I do now. I'll just say that we have to resort to some extra measures to get some relief from the pain, itching, heaviness/fullness, rumbling sounds, and so on. I can't make any recommendations, just let you know you are not alone for sure.

Yes, if you are taking an antidepressant it complicates the situation as a side effect of most of them is tinnitus. Another unfortunate fact of life.

Glad to hear your clog drained out on its own. Peace can reign again!

Ever since I had my tragus piercings I've needed to be more careful with my ears, unfortunately it's increased my likelihood of getting water trapped in the ears from the shower. I find putting my head at an angle where the offending ear is parallel to the floor, then shaking my head vigorously dislodges water - annoying, but it will always come out eventually. Incidentally I have tinnitus in both ears but getting water trapped in them doesn't affect it at all.
