Anybody love the NBA (National Basketball Association)? Ever since I got NBA Live 2004 for Christmas as a kid, I have been wrapped up and obsessed with NBA players, teams, records, statistics you name it lol. I watch NBA league pass all the time and I am currently tuned into this season's playoffs. My favorite teams are the Dallas Mavericks, San Antonio Spurs and Cleveland Cavaliers. Favorite players include Dirk Nowitzki, Tim Duncan, Shaquille O'Neal, Wilt Chamberlain and LeBron James.

What NBA teams and players do you like/watch?

I actually used to watch Wilt the Stilt play on TV. He was getting old at the time, and was a poor foul shooter. He still blocked many shots, though.

Wilt claims to have bedded 20,000 women.

That would be amazing to see Wilt play. He supposedly had a vertical of 50", which would be insane. I have however seen him block Kareem's skyhook on youtube. Pretty cool stuff.

I too have heard of Wilt's 20,000 women claim lol. Wilt said that he was curious to what number of women he had slept with through the years, so he decided to keep track of each different woman for the next 10 days and got 23 women. He proceeded to divide the number by 2 to be modest and then multiplied by x amount of years and ended up with his magic number :D

I have a trivia question for you:

What was Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's original name? In his first season with the Milwaukee Bucks, he played under the original name.

When I was about 11-12 years old, I shoplifted a copy of a book commemorating the 25th anniversary of the founding of what is now the NBA. Until 1949-1950, though, the NBA was actually the BAA (Basketball Association of America) and the NBL (National Basketball League).

You should read up on the "set-shooters." And about George Mikan.

Sweetwater Clifton was probably the first prominent African-American star.

Lew Alcindor was Kareem's old name.

Changed his name around 1971 or 1972 i think.

Indeed, Abdul-Jabbar changed his name from Alcindor (publicly) right before the 1971-1972 season.

No, but as of late, I've wondered what makes a player famous, and does that cause any resentment from players who are not famous?

Frankly, resentment is useless, and most "non-famous" players know that.

Instead, they frequently seek to emulate those who have achieved fame.

But can it be emulated? Is the fame fairly allotted? Do all players get a chance to show their skills equally? Last time I was on a sports team, the coach put his daughter in the position I would have been good at, and put me in a position where I couldn't demonstrate my skills. Does that happen in professional sports where coaches favor some players over others?

Go Celtics!

(it'll probably be 4-0 in the East Finals though. 4-1 at best!)

I don't have a good enough tv subscription to watch any, used to have foxtel but got rid of it.

Unfortunately I don't watch international sport but I might like to (Australia).

I had an Orlando Magic top as a kid so I'm gonna say I like Magic as my team, Even though Michael Jordan was a favorite as a kid because he was a household name.

I get on and off interested in Aussie Rules Footy, My team is Collingwood (magpies/maggies/pies).

I prefer to playing Basketball/Sport instead of watching it. Although I'm not much of a sport person
I may just play a game of King or something with a friend.

All I'll say is that 'super teams' ala Cleveland and Golden State ruin the game aspect. What's the point of 82 regular season games and four rounds of best of 7, when everyone knows the outcome will be Cleveland vs. Golden State? Pretty much since the Celtics got Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett a decade ago, and the Lakers responded by getting Odom and Gasol, the entire game has lost it's appeal because in any given year there's really only 2 or 3 contenders. Then again, being from Colorado, I'm an obligatory Nuggets fan and that could be sapping my enthusiasm as well.
