I was inspired by rapper and actor Ice Cube and entertainment executive Jeff Kwatinetz's idea for the BIG3 basketball league (a 3-on-3 basketball league featuring NBA Alumni) for an idea for a nine-man football league.

So, what I have here, is a rough draft of the rules for my hypothetical nine-man football league; the BIG9 name is a merely a placeholder; if anybody can come up with a better name for this hypothetical league, please let me know!

So, in essence, the rules are almost like that of regular 11-man American Football, but with a slightly narrower field; a diagram of said field will be uploaded soon.

I do apologize, but this was originally a Word document, and the converision to PDF went awry, and the formatting is a bit off. My apologies for this.

As an added bonus, the diagram for my hypothetical nine-man football league field. It is similar in dimensions to a standard American Football field (the standard field is 120 yards [with two 10-yard deep endzones] x 53 1/3 yards, that's 360 feet x 160 feet, BTW, or in metric speak, 109.73m x 48.77m), but while the field is the full 100 yards (plus the two 10-yard end zones), the field's width for this nine-man version is 40 yards (120 feet, or in metric speak, 36.58m).

Addtionally, the inbounds lines (hash marks) near the center of the field are 18 yards apart, which is 1/2 yard less than the standard NFL field. (That's 16.46m in metric terms.)
