Both ears. Most likely since birth. I first realized I had it as a child when commenting on the ringing noise. "What ringing noise??"

Mine is multi-tonal so playing with masking programs like "audionotch" doesn't help much. Mine is quite high pitched overall with most of my ringing being around 7,500 Hertz. I can hear up to around 14,250 Hertz which is unusual for a man my age. Just google "hertz sound generator" and there are some easy ones to play with.

I've never known true silence.

I have pulsatile tinnitus (mainly just left ear) and hyperacusis (both)
The world is a noisy place!

I lost the high freq's years ago at the office, but being in a noisy environment at work I have tinnitus in both ears. It isn't too bad and doesn't last for too long, but it is annoying.

I played in numerous rock bands over many years. I started wearing ear plugs quite early on, but still have a touch of it in my left ear.

I didn't even realise my ears were ringing all the time until reading some of these posts. I've heard it can be low blood iron. I have anaemia.
