I just had a really weird thought. When I'm at work my legs are usually shaking. Can I burn calories like that?

Yes indeedy doo! Fidgeting has actually been RECOMMENDED for people who are stuck at their desks, as a way to burn calories. Here's a quick search - there's chaff in the results, but some wheat as well. I use Ixquick as default, hope it works for you.

I think this, and stimming generally, probably has quite a bit to do with me always being so slim, even if I eat loads. You can also also burn energy just by being in a static pose that needs support from your muscles - for instance hunching up because you feel stressed out.

Sure! Any movement (or use of muscle) at all burns calories. Just sitting up burns more than lying down.

Constant fidgeting can also be a sign of an eating disorder because people with it will do it intentionally to burn more calories. I saw this tip on a pro ana site about ways to burn more calories. Another overlap with ADHD, autism, and anxiety.
