Last month my therapist called in sick on the day of our appointment. And now my case manager canceled our appointment for today and wouldn't reschedule until after Christmas. So I told her to just not f***ing bother.

Even if therapists have done jack to actually help me with any of my problems in the past ten years, at least they provided someone I could talk to. But now even that seems to be too much to ask for.

So not doing their job is refusing to play by my rules and standards now?

I'm pretty sure my employer would not at all take kindly to me telling my clients to go **** themselves. But funny how it doesn't work that way when I'm the client.

Don't you think it's possible that the two cancellations were purely coincidental?

Dude, I'm sorry I posted that. You didn't deserve any snark, especially from me.

The two situations sound separate

However, if the client were to have cancelled the same day, then what?

Sometimes something happens that makes the counselor cancel

But if it is a pattern, maybe you should get a different counselor

A male therapist would be better for a male client and can relate to his issues. A female therapist would be better for a female client and would be able to relate to her issues.

Based on the original post, it does not sound like male or female had anything to do with the attendance

And if the counselor was absent, bthen it would not matter if it was a man or woman

Call your case manager's boss. Cancelling your appointment and not rescheduling until after Christmas is not acceptable. The only exception would be if unexpectedly they needed surgery or something. There's a very good chance case managers boss will never hear about this unless you report it.

I don't blame you for being upset.

Not necessarily. I work much better and more comfortably with women than men.
