I'm possibly switching from Abilify to Latuda this week and am very fearful of gaining weight on Latuda. What can I do to 100 precent not gain weight on Latuda? My ability to exercise and my physical appearance is a priority in my life and I cannot gain to 300+ pounds. With me weight gain is hard to notice. I've gained weight since high school 220 to 252 and haven't noticed any changes in my physical appearance and the way my clothes fit.

I will probably have to switch because the long term side effects of abilify are catching up to me (tremors in my left side and lots of involuntary blinking).

Taking Metformin with antipsychotics negates the weight gain associated with antipsychotics. Ask your doctor about that and tell him or her that the side effect of weight gain is a concern and ask about trying Metformin.

Someone should have told me that when I was on antipsychotics.

I was on Latuda for 8 months and didn't gain at all. It varies from person to person.

Honestly, it didn't do anything.
...for both good and ill.

No side effects (except a little bit of back soreness) but didn't make me any less depressed, either.

I've just started taking metformin. A friend told me about it and I did some internet searching. I take haloperidol and lithium among other meds.
