Also, is it not just all in your head? The stress of adapting to the NT world can really mess with your circadian rhythm. I know I’m having a crazy day when I wear clothes that aren’t appropriate for the weather. Shorts when it’s 50 degrees out—>hectic day. Long pants when it’s 80 degrees out—>burned out because yesterday was hectic. A good day is a day when I have an average perception of the weather.

Most people would probably say it’s a sensory thing, all in your head, but stress can affect your metabolism.

Aspies tend to have various sensory issues & that can include temperature sensitivity

Could be. I find that I'm really not a fan of the heat but I tend to want to put fans/air conditioning on when most of the people around me don't seem to want to. I guess I have a higher intolerance to hot weather than most but a higher tolerance to cold weather.

I have the same problem. Wearing the right clothes when I am going to be outside for a while, especially when I go for a walk. Either I have worn a hoodie when I needed a coat and gloves or I have on a coat and scarf and I end up sweating.

Another problem I have is getting the right bed coverings on for a given night. I have learned, similar to dressing in layers for exercising outside in cold weather, not to expect a particular set of blankets to see me thru the night. I make sure to have more than one layer on so if I get warm its easy to cast one off and to have another close by so I can put it on (without getting out of bed) if I get cold. The tricky part is that when I wake up I don't feel all that hot or cold, I have to almost go on a hunch and make an educated guess whether to add or remove one layer.

I consider that to definitely be an Aspie thing.

I'm just not a fan of winter, especially when it gets below freezing and it's raining and windy. The dry air is also a pain in the ass b/c it dries out my skin, especially my hands and can cause them even to bleed if it's bad enough. The dry air combined w/the cold, I also find can solidify the mucus in my nose when it's around 10F or lower, which is a pain too. All of that also makes it much more likely to get sick when the weather's colder. I don't hate winter as much as I used to, but even though I don't love sweating during the summer, I'd take 90-odd degrees Fahrenheit over sub-freezing weather almost any day.

I’ve walked out of the house either overdressed or underdressed for the weather more times than I can count. I’ve also found that at home, as much as I dislike being hot (boob sweat is no joke when you have D-cups), I dislike being cold even more. We keep two sets of covers on the bed, one lighter one for my wife who hates being hot, and the heavier one for me.

I have had days when I’ve worn too much or too little for the weather, and according to NTs and their silly fashion rules, if you wear too little it’s fine, but they will give you a hard time for wearing too much. If I wear a coat in spring I joke that it’s because I’m from the South (actually true, but I’ve lived in the Midwest for 13 years lol).

I'm pretty sensitive to hot and cold temperatures.
