I'm looking for other aspies who are dealing with/have dealt with Lyme disease. I first had symptoms in middle school, namely a swollen knee. Then I developed peripheral neuropathy (numbness in various areas of the body), flu-like symptoms, etc. It definitely makes it more difficult to cope with being on the spectrum, if only because when dealing with feeling lousy it doesn't give you much extra emotional strength to grow emotionally and socially. Unfortunately all the other "Lymies" I meet are neurotypical (despite the fact that some *claim* that it has "made them autistic", they don't show the pattern of esoteric interests and lack of interest in the interpersonal--it seems what they really mean is "too much of a wreck to socialize, and cognitively impaired as well"), and none of the other aspies I met has dealt with Lyme.

I have. I love to hike and live in an area where Lyme is very prevalent, so I guess it's not surprising. You have my sympathy. It's not easy or fun to deal with, for sure.
