I’m on a diet, I’m watching what I eat, I also eating what I love that may not be good for me. I’m so happy I bought a scale years ago, I used to walk to the gym to used the scale, the gym was 4 blocks away. I used to walk ALOT, I walked just to lose weight, I could walk 15 - 20 blocks, last time I lost alot of weight, I loss 60 lbs, it took me years to lose that much weight, I lost that weight over 7 years ago when my mom was still alive, I CANNOT BELIEVE it is going to be 7 years in June that I lost my mom, I can’t cry now, my mom is still with me, I can feel her. Anyway, I cannot walk too much anymore, cuz of my bones, my bones didn’t healed right when I broke my ankle. I’m doing the best I can to exercise, I wish I can do yoga, it would be too hard for me. I have a thigh master & a stretchy rubber band like in Pilates, I used to have an exercise ball.

Do people need to really eat breakfast? Do people need to eat 3 meals & 2 or 3 snacks? I read sooo many different things over the past years about losing weight the right way, everything can change fast, it can be too confusing.

I always skipped breakfast and ate just a couple of times per day. I was overweight and couldn't loose too much, it immediately cam back.
Now I had to switch to a diet because of some health issues: eating 6-8 times a day. 3 big meals, the rest light snacks. It was a relief for my body, very swiftly dropped the weight and I felt so great. So from my perspective yes, breakfast is important and eating 5-6 times a day is recommended, but what you eat is the top priority. I don't think there are general rules, you have to find out what your body desires and when you feel good

I have heard reports that for weight loss, it is better to eat several small meals than one or two larger meals. The skipping out on meals puts your body into survival mode and causes your body to store fat as energy for later this causing you to gain instead of lose weight.

When you're trying to lose weight, your diet actually plays a much more important role in your progress than exercise does. Theoretically, it is best to have 3 main meals (evidently, that consist of healthy foods) and 2-3 snacks (again, healthy snacks like a banana or an apple, not Cheetos). There are plenty of resources online that you can use to figure out a diet plan. But what I'd recommend is for you to see a nutritionist so that a specialist tells you exactly what and when to eat for the sake of your health, as well as faster and much better results. What I also recommend is that you switch it up a notch with your exercise routine too. If money and space allow it, get an elliptical trainer, it's easy on the joints and helps you burn calories faster than what you currently use (https://popular.reviews/elliptical-trainer/ - a few options to check out). Best of luck, keep us updated with your progress!

From what I’ve learned when I started getting into healthy eating and nutrition because of some health issues (liver problems) last spring is that you should not eat lots of meals. My GP also told me to eat three meals a day at most.

The reason for this is that every time you eat, your body releases insulin, which also prevents your body from burning fat. The more you weigh and the more body-fat you have, the more time your body needs to re-absorb that insulin and only when that’s happened, your body starts burning fat and you start losing weight.

I have also found that eating small snacks in between makes me stay hungry all the time and keeps my mind on food which makes me cranky and frustrated.

I start with a small breakfast (because I really do not like to eat in the morning, but I found it helps my metabolism) in the morning and drink a lot before midday. Then I have my main meal and I only eat very little in the evening.
For me this works perfectly. I’ve lost almost 20 kg and now I even have to be careful so my weight doesn't go down much more. Also, my health issues have gone away completely.

I have had serious gastro-intestinal problems recently and I cut out all simple carbs such as sugar and flour, rice. I started eating 2 meals a day the first being at 11:30- 12:00 usually fruit and nuts or oatmeal, the last meal at 16:00 or at the latest 17:00pm and is usually meat, fish, chicken or eggs with veg. I wasn't trying to lose weight but I have lost a lot, cutting out starch somehow
makes me less hungry and I drink loads of herb tea with lemon and ginger and also water. I need a lot of fat, butter tehina, olive oil or almonds then I don't get hungry. My gastric reflux is better because my stomach is empty when I go to bed and my blood pressure and diabetes have stabilized not necessitating medication anymore. I do walk a lot because I gave up my car. This is a great regime for me but it doesn't suit everyone. I later found out that "intermittent fasting" is a popular fad now but I discovered this all by myself.
