If you have spent quite a lot of your life drinking a fair amount of alcohol can your skin recover if you quit drinking.

Or are some of the effects on your skin caused by alcohol permanent?

Just done a quick google, mist of what came up was “how to make your face look nice the morning after” type stuff.
A few results from detox centres: but they mostly went into great depth about all the damage alcohol can do, then advertised their services.
The consensus seemed to be that most bad effects on skin will reverse with time, good diet and exercise... but not all.
Didn’t specify which wouldn’t:
I suppose that if you have burst capillaries they probably won’t heal back as they were...
I’d expect psoriasis to clear up if you’ve got that though: did for one of my tutors at uni. :)

I suppose it depends on what type of damage you’ve got tbh.
I’d be surprised if twelve years was enough to contract cancer from skin degradation for instance, but most of the visible effects are a byproduct of dehydration that a healthy diet with plenty of unsweetened fluids should fix over time.

NHS overview of skin cancer

Includes self-inspection tips: thinking you’re reading like you might be worried, best to check yourself properly and put your mind at rest on that one

Omega 3 fatty acids are ESSENTIAL to the chemical makeup of every fleshy cell in your body. Including skin.

Consider taking a good fish oil 500+ mg active omegas . Look for one that gives u real values for the EPA and DHA content.
Or consider adding certain fish like sardines into your diet regularly.
Examine your diet to ensure optimal recovery.

(There was a time when 70% of my daily calories came from sugar and alcohol only) lol

Moisturize with face lotion at night and after face washing.

For dull skin and fine lines, give one of those sculpting creams a try. With hyaluronic acid.

Get plenty of fluids and rest. Cardio can get things moving a lil faster. And lay off the bottle and any types of smoke for a while.
However, sun damage is not so easily fixed.

Good luck. :)
