At the moment I am on the following medication......I take sertraline once a day propranolol (beta blocker) twice a day and I take an antipsychotic drug called aripiprazole once a day as well.

Is there any way I can make my medication more effective like for example changes to my lifestyle such as diet and exercise etc....?

Ask the doctor who prescribed them.

One thing that springs to mind ... make sure you eliminate grapefruit from your diet if it contraindicates the drugs you’re taking ...

The beta blocker may be best taken at night, if you find yourself being knocked out by it in the daytime. Exercise is beneficial but not later than 2-3 hrs before bedtime.

Beta blockers make good sleeping pills. I always take mine 30 mins before bed.

You probably know this already but it's better to take some meds with food or to take them the same way every time like always with food or always on an empty stomach. The bottle &/or medication guide might tell you what to do & you could always look it up online. It's also recommended to avoid alcohol wile taking certain meds, especially psych 1s.

Like starkid mentioned, it may be good to talk to your doc/psych about this. Perhaps they would have some ideas. Also there's a chance a med change might help. Maybe you could try increasing the dose of one of your meds, changing a med, or adding one. Take things one med at a time thou & give things an honest try if your not noticing horrible side-effects. I'm not sure what your taking those meds for but if one of the reasons is anxiety, you could try adding the med Buspar/Buspirone assuming you didn't try it already. It's only approved used is for anxiety stuff but it may also help other psych meds work better sometimes. Discuss it with your doc/psych as well as doing a tad of research on it if you have concerns. There's also a chance counseling might help as well assuming your not seeing a counselor already. Your doc/psych could refer you to one.

Does alcohol make the medication work less effectively in the long run?

Alcohol is best left out of psychoactive components....
In my experience its too much of a wild card...
