I wish there an easier way to brush your teeth, it can be hard for me to brush, cuz my bathroom sink is a little too far from my counter, I mean there is alot of space between me & the sink, I have to bend over alot, my back can hurt. I can make a mess with the toothpaste. Brushing my teeth can make me choke, I know people supposed to brush their tongue, if I brush there, I will choke alot. Does this have to do with Aspergers?

I don't know, but I hate brushing my teeth too. I only brush my teeth once a day, I know they say to brush your teeth twice a day but I don't see the point in that. Surely your teeth only need to be brushed once a day, before you go to bed?

I hate brushing my teeth too. I can’t stand the way it feels. I hate flossing even more.

If you live alone, maybe brush your teeth at the kitchen sink instead. A sink is a sink. Instead of brushing my tongue I'll use mouthwash. Floss sticks instead of floss string. Electric sonicare toothbrush instead of a regular one.

I used to have issues brushing my teeth because of problems with motor skills, but otherwise I'm unsure if autism causes a problem with brushing teeth. At this point I just let the eventual mess of toothpaste happen and I deal with it afterwards. lol

Would you be willing to speak with your dentist about this issue?

I apologize if this comes off as rude, but how tall are you?

I hate brushing teeth too. It's one of those things that if you do it the way the experts say you should, you end up looking and feeling like a complete unco dingbat. Plus, the toothpaste burns!

Why not go for the mouthwash option instead?

I use mouthwash, I didn’t know mouthwash could clean your tongue. I use Listerine, I found a Listerine for sensitive teeth. I didn’t know about floss sticks.

I use these plastic tongue cleaners:

You can be gentle with them and they're very effective for getting the gunk off your tongue.
I love the feeling of having a clean mouth.

Water pik ..with a little dilution of mouthwash .... it’s alittle extra to fill it with 1 cup of water and maybe
A ounce of mouthwash but it really is valuable if you want to keep the cavities away , I use a spin brush with it ,
But I think I could just get by with the water pick , was reccomended by my dental hygienist.

My routine changed drastically after I bought a sonic toothbrush. After flossing I fill my mouth with water (no paste) and the toothbrush tells me when to clean the next section. I then clean my tongue and swallow the water. No sink needed and my teeth are smooth and free of any gunk. I think it cost me less than $25 shipped.

I hate brushing my teeth so much that I took fluoride tablets as a child and it gave me fluorosis on two of my teeth. My dentist is desperate because I have gum disease and lots of cavities on my molars.
As I am hypersensitive and have a phobia of vomiting, it is very difficult for me to brush my teeth. I hardly ever brush my teeth. And even when I have a routine and I'm not depressed like I am now, I still have to brush my teeth three hours before going out because I feel nauseous all the time. This is a real problem for me and I don’t know how to do. I tried several toothbrushes, mechanical or not, solid toothpaste with no luck.

Are you able to use your finger to gently massage your gums and teeth? It's not the same as brushing but gentle massage over the gums can prevent gingivitis. Similarly removing the biofilm that quickly builds up on teeth will also prevent gum disease.

I'm guessing when you do brush your teeth you are avoiding the back of the mouth due to gagging and as a result the condition of the molars is worse than the other teeth.

I can't use mouthwash because it contains artificial sweetners. Puzzles me why they put them in there!?

I'm a huge anime fan. There are many anime series that are anywhere between thirty seconds to three minutes an episode. I simply find series to fit into "mouthwash" and "teeth" categories and do what's needed while watching anime, using a closed container to spit everything into as I go along.
I still don't brush my teeth as often as I should, but I am getting better over time, and the anime serves as good timers. It's weird, but it works for me.
