The most common culprit - carbonated drinks. CO2 relaxes sphincter and at the same time creates pressure pushing stomach contents up.
And many medications, like sedatives and antidepressants lead to relaxation of this sphincter as side effect.
Interesting. I bet the antidepressants loosen the "other" sphincter too, which explains why I pass gas so easily
