Abdominal aortic aneurysm screening

·I had my abdominal aortic aneurysm screening this morning. That was fine.However the woman doing it said I was a very interesting person. That was followed by saying the scan had picked up something unrelated to the aaa screening. The GP will now have to decide what to do, having seen the images. I'm a mix of anxious, curious and worried. My health anxiety has risen to the top. My daughter, who was with me, has said if it was anything really serious the woman would have flagged it as needing 'immediate/urgent attention.

I wonder what the interesting thing you have is.

Have you seen your GP about it? What did they say?

I've not seen the GP specifically about that, but my daughter arranged a home visit re my dry, cracked, infected, and swollen legs. During that she mentioned the scan, that's due to be done on Wednesday, to the GP. She mentioned a fluid sac.

Good luck, it may be something minor that needs tending before it becomes major.

Maybe you have two hearts like Doctor Who?

All kidding aside - if there was nothing there they would have said so - if there is something there better to know than not know. The person running the test sometimes must defer to the doc - what she thinks is “interesting” the doc may think is “normal”. Anyway she must let him (or her) decide which is why she was vague.

If it was serious, they definitely would have told you already.

My doc once told me that I have a mitral valve prolapse. He then told me that this was the "cardiac equivalent of the common cold". No treatment was recommended at that time, or since. That would qualify as "interesting" but not dangerous.

Scan done. Just very common kidney cysts, that most of the time don't need any treatment.
