About three and a half years ago, I got severely stopped up after eating some popcorn.
The doctor put me on miralax and other laxatives. It did nothing. I had about two small bowel movements in a month.
Then he put me on something called lubiprostone. It is apparently intended for heavy users of opioids. I only took one. It was pretty painful for a few hours, but it got everything going again. Even with that, it took a while to build back up to normal.
Some food items can really get a strong laxative-type effect. One is pancakes. About half of the time I make pancakes, I feel an intense need to go to the bathroom. There is also an old-time drug store diner in the next town over and I like to eat there. For some reason, their hamburger, onion rings, and soft drink does this, too.
