Does everyone 20, 30, whatever age, go to a gym ?

I still don't feel interested or inspired to go into a gym even though I motivate myself sometimes to use the barbells under my bed on occasions. I do also a lot of walking to and from work 15 or 20 minutes away from where I work. I have even had several occasions when I've done 50 minute walks to see my counsellor when my car when I let family borrow it. I do feel better when I do these things but it still doesn't make me really want to take it further and join a gym.

I don't feel keen on buying my own sports wear for a gym though when I was at school, we had to because it was compulsory if you did physical education which I sometimes enjoyed. Because it's not compulsory in the adult world and that's it's up to us, it still doesn't make me "want to" despite enjoying it at school.

I sometimes feel bad for not knowing much about this stuff 10 or more years ago or knowing how to build muscle and didn't really start until my late 20s/30 and during the pandemic. Despite using my friend's barbells on occasions now, it still doesn't really interest me to look like some really muscular looking guy. I have some muscle but I don't really want to look like a Stallone or Schwarzenegger. I can't help but feel though that this stuff is all around us now than it was in the past. It's on social media and on TV adverts/commercials and feels like everyone is doing it.

I have never been to a gym. All of my exercise at the moment is from walking and climbing stairs. I feel like I should do some strength, stretching & cardio exercises as I know they are good for the body, but I would definitely find a way of doing them with home equipment, rather than going to a gym, because I’d just feel too self conscious in a gym.

Since society's physical health is plummeting, I would say no.

Great work on the long walks. 6000 - 12 000 steps per day reduces health risks significant. For people over 60, you get similar benefits from 6-8000 steps. We do benefit from resistance training as well.

I would say both of you display very normal feelings towards training.

The only gym outside school that I've been in was when I was sent by my team to the national institute of sport to see why I couldn't put on muscle mass.
After seeing a plethora of specialist doctors and having a battery of tests and learning FA, I believe the consensus was "You're a giant stick insect"

Everyone is definitely not doing it. Most people are overweight and are not physically fit. Do whatever you want, but it's definitely not something you need to do more of than you already are, unless you really want to. It's a matter of personal preference.

Personally, I've never been inside a gym my whole life, expect for PE class at school.

I would.

But it's expensive. Though I'm actually willing to budget and blast my savings for it.
And mostly because of my sensory needs and the only way to fulfill it is working out.

Except, it can make me risk getting sick the day after feeling sore.

I tried working out lighter. Whether at gym or at home.
It doesn't fulfill it.

By sensory needs, I want an intense workout that can leave my body numb for few hours at a time.

I really tried slow and gradual, and turns out I have so many disruptors.
I really wish I don't have any of it or just able to flat out ignore it.


My disruptors consists of regularly scheduled upper respiratory infections, which is a huge disruptor for something that needs a lot of steady breathing on rest.
And working out aggravates it.

My diet just couldn't keep up with it.
My sleep is too crappy to keep up with it that it can get detrimental... Itself is a disruptor, too -- think it's healthy to work out without regular sleep?
Nope. It's not advisable to workout when one skips sleep and I have days I skip sleep because of the same issue -- and almost everything I already mentioned.


I don't like my body. :x
I want to be healthier.
But **** this curse of a disease that no one takes seriously.


I'm a habitual walker, so that seem to be physically enough.
But not for my sensory needs and wanting to have gains, no.
