Is there anyone here who struggles with eating certain foods after having their Gallbladder removed? I had my Gallbladder removed in January of last year. I struggle with being able to eat Pizza and certain other foods without severe bloating. I know after Gallbladder surgery they say you are supposed to not eat as much fattening foods. I used to be able to eat 4-5 slices with little issue except some acid reflux. Now when eat that many I get bloated really bad. It's a struggle because I really love Pizza.

My dad has his removed a couple years ago, it got to the point where he was extremely sick and they had no choice. I think I may have to have mine taken out as well one of these days.

Maybe thin crust would be easier to digest? or less greasy toppings?

I'm sorry your dad has his removed too! My Grandmother on my Dad's side had her's taken out. She dosen't seem to have alot of issues though for the most part. I might try thin crust with less grease. I had some yesterday from an italian place in town and it was a little greasy and think that set it off. I have to try and start watching it now as much I don't want to. I appreciate you sharing King Kat :)

Yes, I had issues before, but after it was taken out, it got significantly worse; bread, fibrous vegetables and many other types of food bothered me significantly more. The last time I ordered pizza, it ended up with me being severely nauseous for a few days. I only make my own these days.

There are some things you can take that help, like digestive enzymes, probiotics and colloidal silicic acid, aka "Silicol-gel":

Perhaps you could learn to eat pizza in moderation?

The Chinese prefer family style dining, where they have eight people sharing eight dishes.
Everyone gets a taste of each dish.

That's a good idea too! That is something I need to do. I just can't eat the amount that I used to and have to accept that. I like the Chinese idea of family style dining! Very cool!

No problem! You can even find brands with enzymes, B vitamins and probiotics all in one product, like in this Prolife:

Fatty, not fattening. Foods can be fattening without being fatty.

The gallbladder stores bile, which is used for digesting fats. It would follow that someone who can't store bile would need to reduce their intake of fats due to a reduced ability to digest large amounts of fats when they're consumed all at once.

My girlfriend had her gallbladder removed a few years ago & she's been having some stomach problems ever since including some pain where her gallbladder was. Certain foods do upset her stomach more than others like foods that aggravate acid reflux. She's tried most all the acid reflux meds & they only help a little. We think her surgery wasn't done quite right but practically all the hospitals in the state are affiliated with the same university hospital where she had her surgery so it's next to impossible to get an independent evaluation within the state.

Thank you for sharing Nick! I'm sorry to hear what your girlfriend is going through. That's tough when all the hospitals are affiliated with the same university. I hope she is able to get some healing.
