I have mixed emotions about it.... In a way it was good to see him make a name for himself and prove the ney-sayers wrong, but even then it seems they made it a point in the broadcast to exploit him being autistic. He was a "towel boy", he was on the team but they did not intend for him to play, even though he must have been an active member or they could not have sent him into the game. The fact that the people were even popping the way they were, they would not have popped like that had he been a "cool" NT athelete. It was kinda like a condescending appreciation.

Heh, I've seen this before. When I saw this title though I thought they'd come up with an actual autistic 'league', that would be funny...

Sad thing is there's nothing you can do about it, that's what people are. Human beings, in general are f---tarded animals and they can't help it - its their own mental limit of sorts. I think even the guy in question who the video's on he's probably thought it was slick that he got out there on the court and got some game time in, he's probably at least a little annoyed and feeling a bit patronized about all the press that its getting. After all the guy in the video, when you think about it, like us, really isn't any different than them and they aren't any different than us - only in form not substance, and that's a truth that most people will never have contact with because they're lives will never reach that level of complexity or struggle to where they'd have to.

I still say they should have gotten him out on the court sooner, tried to hone his abilities, I'd think if they actually would have gotten him more practice he may have even been able to get into some college level ball - I kinda doubt the youtube video's going to land quite as many scholarships for him.
